Hand Tattoos

Tattooing in the hand is quit uncommon. However, tattoos for the hand have become increasingly more popular over the years, especially among younger girls.

All tattoos, regardless of location, should have a meaning significant to the person wearing them. This is especially true for tattoos that are difficult to cover, such as those on the hands and neck.

The hand is the part of the body which is in the very near vicinity of eyes where there is hardly less time where the eyes does not focus your hand. To keep yourself reminded about something all the time, your hands are the best place to be inscribed in the form of tattoos. Hand tattoos can be astounding and impressive as you can easily show it to others by just raising your arms near the eyes of the observer.Hand tattoos are also the ultimate expression of rebellion in some cases.

First timers are advised to consider portions of the body that are easily covered, such as back and upper arms, but if you are ready for a hand tattoo, here are some considerations :

hand tattoos1. Tattoo artist. Due to a moral dilemma and a quality issue , many tattoo studios have a policy on what areas of the body their artists can't tattoo. These places tend to include anywhere on the neck except possibly the nape, the face, feet and hands and fingers.

2. Career opportunities. Hand tattoos is the most visible area you can get tattooed. If you work somewhere either now or in the future that requires body art to be covered during business hours, you'll be hard pressed to meet this requirement.  You should also consider how it will affect your social life.

3. Design. You're very limited on space when tattooing hands and even more so if you're tattooing fingers. Because space is limited on your hands, any tattoo there will need to be small, no larger than a couple of inches, depending on your hand size. There are several designs that fit for hands, such as flower, star, butterfly, bar code, script, and zodiac signs.

4. Pain. Although the skin on your hands is abused on a daily basis, it can still be fairly sensitive and there's not much there, such as muscle or fat, to cushion the impact caused by the tattooing process. In general, hand tattoos tend to be more slightly more painful than others.

5. Fading and blurring. The fact is, your hands and feet are the two parts of your body that come under the greatest amount of physical “abuse” as a result of normal everyday life. This makes maintaining the quality of a tattoo in these areas very difficult. You should also be aware of what part of your hand you are having tattooed. A tattoo on the palm of your hand, as opposed to the top of it, is much more likely to need regular touching up. Some people find they need to get their hand tattoo touched up as often as once a year while others only need one every two to four years, but no matter the amount time, you're guaranteed to need a touchup eventually. Most tattoo artists guarantee their work 100% and back up that guarantee with things such as free touch-ups.

So, when you are trying to decide if you should get a hand tattoo, weigh all the options. Ultimately, you should do what makes you happy. Remember, whether displayed by tribal clans, prisoners, military personnel or just the average person on the street, tattoos for the hand are sure to make a statement!
